So I "wrote" an online shopping cart for conference registration and merch sales. It's based on NOPDesign free shopping cart. click here.
I customized it to where it's pretty functional as far as our needs go - writes all the reg info to a mysql database, then sends the cart contents to paypal for payment. Pretty easy to configure w/ a little knowledge of html/php/mysql/javascript.

I'm thinking about making a generic version available for download here for other conferences to use if they want. I can also provide some limited support through this forum.
